Agnus Dei- The Waxen Disk
This is perhaps one of the oldest and rarest sacramental in the Catholic Church.
With faith it has special graces of protection against germs, plagues, and contagious diseases. For example, farmers in France put the Agnus Dei waxen disk in barns and none of the cows tested had the mad cow disease!
There are many other extraordinary graces such as stopping hurricanes, tornados, hail, volcanoes and other acts of nature.
Graces are also given to escape injury at sea, fire, floods and the malice of men.
Other graces with the Agnus Dei, (pronounced, ‘Ann use Day e’) are: that evil forces shall tremble and flee from it, one is delivered from human or diabolical deceits, that through Divine intervention the snares, wiles and frauds of Satan should not prevail, and from whatsoever evils threaten mankind.
Also, mothers who are going to give birth, Jesus is there for a safe delivery when they are in travail.
Finally, and more importantly, that at the sight or touch of the Lamb impressed on thee waxen discs, the faithful should be inspired to dwell on the mysteries of our Redemption recalled by this symbol: and be moved to praise, venerate, and extol God’s goodness to us, hoping to obtain pardon for their sins, and to be cleaned from all stain; and that Divine aid should strengthen one to bear good and evil fortune.
All this for us from the merits of the Life and Passion of Jesus Christ.
Apparently no Pope has confected these special sacramentals since Vatican II. Only a Pope can confect them once every seven years. This tradition goes back 1700 years.
Samples of large size Agnus Dei
These priceless treasures are made by Italian cloistered nuns. Each case is hand cut, sewn and painted. Each case contains a little piece of wax from the big waxen disk as well as a piece of the Bible, the Word of God. No two Agnus Dei are the same color, design or shape; they are generally heart shaped or squares. When the Nuns make them, they say, “Gee, I wonder who is going to get this one, I wonder how God is going to Bless them”

Large size Agnus Dei, are about 3 ½” x 4½ ” has no cord and can carried or displayed in a home. It comes with information and prayer. Note: At the present time the Nuns do not have them available.
